Navman’s MYTRUCK III GPS – An Epic GPS for an Equally Epic Job
Designed with truck drivers for truck drivers
Anyone who drives a truck can tell you: the journey is different from the truck driver’s seat. You’re already working to tight deadlines and the last thing you need is to be caught facing a low bridge or an unexpected size-restricted road. Navman created the Navman MYTRUCK III GPS to make life easier and safer on the roads for truck drivers, with specifically tailored features such as guidance for B-doubles and HAZMAT restricted vehicles.
“We wanted to improve the driving experience for truck drivers, so we developed MYTRUCK III with the help of truck drivers who tested the product vigorously and provided useful feedback, which we then used to enhance the device. Not only does it plan correct routes for trucks, the GPS is also packed with relevant information that truck drivers need, such as nearby petrol stations and rest stops. The specialist sat-nav has a huge 6-inch screen so those driving larger vehicles can clearly view map details, and we know safety is important for drivers who cover many kilometres and spend so much time on the road, so the device comes packed with the most sophisticated GPS safety features currently available. The MYTRUCK III also features a faster processor, so it can calculate and re-calculate routes then guide you even quicker than before,” said Wendy Hammond, Country Director, Navman Australia.
Features of the MYTRUCK III:
Professional truck mode - Provides special guidance for B-doubles and HAZMAT restricted vehicles, so no more tedious planning trips using road gazettes. Now truck drivers simply enter the truck’s dimensions and loads, and the Navman MYTRUCK III will show routes suitable for the vehicle, avoiding roads, tunnels and bridges with height, width, length, weight, load, large vehicle and hazardous material restrictions.
Trip Planner – This multi-stop trip planning function helps calculate the most efficient truck- friendly route to get to various destinations - very handy for multi pick-ups and deliveries.
Fuel type search - Helps truck drivers find the nearest petrol station that stocks the right fuel for their truck.
Safety features – Spending so much time on the road puts truck drivers more at risk than most drivers, so Navman’s premium driver alerts will warn them when approaching potentially dangerous driving situations like sharp bends, steep inclines or declines, high wind areas, overtaking lanes or lane merges. Its spoken safety alerts (speed limits, safety cameras and school zones etc.) will tell them about what’s ahead rather than just give a warning beep. The driver fatigue alert reminds them to take a break when they have been driving for over two hours and will also guide drivers to the closest truck stop or restaurant. It has Bluetooth hands-free so drivers do not have to touch their phone when driving, and if the truck breakdowns, the roadside assist function will pinpoint the location, will let them know if there is a mechanic or other roadside assistance and if so, will even provide a phone number to call if the device is connected to a phone via Bluetooth.
Travel and food guides – When you are travelling all over the state and country, often by yourself, it’s good to know where to go for a good bite, drink or something interesting to do. The device has nifty guides to give truck drivers information about the areas they are travelling through. The device’s Zomato Guide helps drivers find a decent meal on the road while Lonely Planet Travel Guides provide useful information about accommodation, restaurants and tourist attractions.
Monthly Map Updates - Navman offers truck drivers the latest mapping information for trucks, with free validated and verified monthly maps updates for the lifetime of the sat-nav. This feature provides the most up-to-date information regarding new roads, safety alerts, speed cameras, school zones and red light cameras - as well as new points of interests such as hospitals and airports.
Free lifetime live traffic updates – Traffic updates from SUNA are also updated continuously on the MYTRUCK III, helping truck drivers avoid suburban traffic, and can also calculate alternative truck- friendly routes.
Premium Guidance Features – The MYTRUCK III comes with all premium guidance features you will find in the top of the range MY series GPS. Landmark guidance plus directs drivers by pointing out objects they see through their windscreen such as the colours, names of buildings and geographical features to guide them, making navigation instructions easier to understand. Other great features truck drivers will find useful include a mileage reporter to keep track of the amount of kilometres they are travelling, and a voice destination search.
The MYTRUCK III is available now at leading retailers with a recommended retail price of $499. It also includes a two year warranty.
